04 Boys Onto the State Cup Semi-Finals!!!

The 04 Boys team are moving onto the Semi-Finals after taking down SCOR Muelensteen and the Michigan Wolves in the Round of 16 and Quarterfinals last weekend!

The weekend began with an incredible comeback win in the Round of 16 match against SCOR Muelensteen. After going down 2-0 in the opening ten minutes, the boys fought their way back with goals from Brayon Tanner late in the first half and Nikolas Kosmet early in the second half. The score would remain tied at two goals a piece and the teams would head to overtime. Jackson would come out flying in overtime playing some incredible attacking football and scoring 4 goals in the overtime period to win 6-2. Brayon Tanner and Jonny Torres connective creativity took over the game where they would combine for goals 3,4, and 5. Dylan Marshallsay added the 6th.

The win came with a big cost though as the team lost 2 of their centerbacks and headed into Sunday's Quarterfinal against the Michigan Wolves with their backs against the wall. With players playing out of position and 05's Jeffery Palmer and Christian Roza playing some big minutes, the boys stepped up and were up for the challenge! Jonny Torres scored a header off of a set-piece from Luke Brady and a flick from Brayon Tanner to put Jackson ahead early in the 2nd half. The score would remain 1-0 until the very last minute of the game when the Wolves were awarded a penalty kick. They would convert to send the game into extra time.

With everything stacked against them, Jackson would somehow find the strength to turn around the momentum to hang on and send the game into penalty kicks. Carter Kosmet would convert the game-winning penalty to ice the game and send Jackson into the semi-final!

The 04 boys become the first team from the Jackson area to reach the Semi-Finals of State Cup since the early 2000's when a Jackson United older girls team coached by Rush Jackson's Lyle Wensely did it!

The Semi-Finals will take place on Saturday, June 1st at 8:30am in Saginaw where the boys will get a shot at the defending National Champion. Go on boys!
